I've been having so much inner child fun making paper art dolls!
Last week whilst clearing out my granddaughter Polly's room I stumbled upon some paper dolls that I had made her during lockdown. Aha!! That's just the idea I was looking for to make my characters a bit more 'interactive'! So I dug out the old artwork and set to creating some new Paper Pals to play with.
First came Olga Bloomingdale. She's a green witch with her toes in the grass and her nose in flowers and herbs. I created 3 interchangeable outfits for all occasions that she might need.
Then Stacey Moon, who loves to study the lunar cycles. Her head is in the sky and her eyes on the stars. I had to make her a little space helmet for her far off travels!
Finally we have Soo Nightingale. Taken from the free printable I sent out to my Art Witch Club members, Soo helps you trust your intuition! She likes divination, particularly her crystal ball and pendulum (which she wears round her neck most of the time!)
I have these listed in my etsy shop as digital downloads - 1 x colour A4 sheet, 1 x Black and white (to colour in yourself) and a booklet cover and inside.
Why not laminate them like me (use a bit of bluetak on the backs) and you can play for hours! I have recorded a new you tube video showing these in detail and having a chat about how to use them. I have made stickers and used as collage pieces in my journals. All the clothes are interchangeable with the dolls, I have kept them all the same size for even more fun!
I like to think of them as companions and aids to telling our stories in our art. Kids love them too! Polly has a set of each for her birthday on Sunday. She may insist on me drawing some pet cats as well though!
I have loads of characters I want to create and play with, I hope you think they are as fun as I do!
